Smiles Do Make A Difference

In this day and age, it is a bit depressing that the world as a general rule just does not smile as much. When walking through the store, walking in the mall, eating at a restaurant, I am seeing most of the people with a bit of emptiness on their faces. People seemed to have lost their joy or happiness of life.

As a Christian, I have a conviction that it is my obligation and opportunity to SMILE at others. It is a simple yet profound way to show joy, hope, happiness, and kindness to others. I am not aware of the difficulties that people are going through. Smiling is a small but powerful way to communicate my concern or interest in their lives.

What does it cost to smile? The most expensive thing is you having a real concern for others. And the best way to do that, is to remember your own history of pain or difficulties. We ALL have struggles. The other thing it cost is effort. The effort of smiling is an acquired discipline. The more you smile throughout the day the easier it becomes.

You may never know what others are benefiting from your smile and eye contact, but be assured that it is helping. Start today – Smile – Make a difference.
