Who Do You Belong To?

 Allegiance and resemblance

.  They go hand in hand.  Have you ever noticed that the longer a couple are together that at times they begin to resemble one another?  As their tenure of allegiance to one another deepens, so do the traits of their appearance and behavior deepen in resemblance.   It is an amazing study.

Scripture tells us of the people of the world that due to their sin nature and their tenure with sinfulness have over time taken on the characteristics of sinfulness in both behavior and looks.  They are what Paul in Romans calls “Slaves to Sin”.  They obey sin, so they look like sin, they act like sin.

But, if a person has relinquished their life unto God – they should begin looking and acting like their new master.  They are now “Slaves to Righteousness” – obedient to the command and inspiration of the Master of Righteousness (Jesus).   There should be a distinct characterizational difference that everyone can see.

Romans 6:16 says:  “… you are slaves of that one you obey – either of sin leading to death or of obedience leading to righteousness?”   6:22 – “But now, since you have been liberated from sin and become enslaved to God, you have your fruit, which results in sanctification – and the end is eternal life!”

Let me just say as a closing thought – You can’t be a slave to both.  You will either hate the one and love the other or you will love the one and hate the other.   Who do you belong to?  Go look in the mirror.
